Reporting to:  Managing Director



Hughes Pumps manufactures high pressure plunger pumps rated to 375kW (500hp) and 3,000bar (43,500psi), used for industrial water jet cleaning/cutting applications and process pumping in the oil and gas, marine, ship repair, construction and other industries. 




Asia, Australasia, North America and South America (subject to discussion/change). In addition to the export role, the Southern part of the UK is included.


General Responsibilities

• Maintain and nurture existing agents and customers

• Identify and appoint new agents

• Find new customers

• Follow up existing and generate new enquiries

• Increase turnover/market share

• Raise Company profile

• Carry out demonstrations

• Commission equipment / train customers in basic operation and maintenance

• Attend exhibitions 

• Extensive overseas travel. Typically 1 to 2 weeks duration, 6 to 8 times per year. Minimum 12 weeks per year

• Factory based



• HNC/HND or a degree in mechanical engineering

• 5 years proven track record in sales (preferably export) of capital equipment

• 5 to 10 years’ experience (engineering and/or sales) in pumps, engines, rotating or similar products

• Hands on

• Passion for the product being sold

• Pro-active

• Target driven


• Basic salary plus commission

• 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday with a 30 minute lunch break
